Manga Media & The Swedish Manga Magazines

A long time ago, when the publish of manga's were still on the top in Sweden
There were magazine like:  Manga Mania, Shonen Jump and Shojo Stars

The company Manga Media were result of  between the companies Swedish Bonnier AB (by Bonnier Carlsen) and the Full Stop Media (Schibsted publishers AB).
Schibsted took over Full Stop Media in the years 2005/2006. 

The Manga Media gave out the magazines ; Shojo Stars , Shonen Jump and Manga Mania.
 Manga Media published the three magazines between the years 2003-2009.

Sadly the company had finances problem and declining sales on all three magazines.
There were struggle with the license when it come to the manga series.
So the company disband in the years of 2008- 2009.

So lets take a look about the magazines

Shojo Stars had the inspiration of the Japanese magazine called : Hana to Yume  
(HanaYume) and were a Shōjomanga. The magazine came out monthly.
Manga series were;  Godchild, Skip Beat!, Fruits Basket , Gakuen Alice, Vampire Knight and W Juliet.
But there were also articles (some like some focus articles about illustrators and models) ,sudoku, and contests. More focus on romans, music and trend

Manga Media had cooperation with Hakusensha with Shojo Stars

Shojo Stars were born in the autumn in 2007 and sadly ended in the autumn of 2009.
The magazine had 25th issue, volumes.
 
At first the magazine had great selling number, but soon the magazine lost followers, readers.
So in the end Manga Media had the finances struggle with the production, declining sales.
And Manga Media had to end Shojo Stars.

Shonen Jump had as role-model the Japanese magazine ; Shukan Shonen Jump
The magazine came out between the years 2004 - 2007
The magazine were a Shōnenmanga and came out monthly.

Jump post (readers letters)

Some of manga series that comes in the magazine is :
Naruto, Shaman King, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Rurouni Kenshin, Bleach & Romance Dawn (another variation of the series One Pieces beginning)
 
 But here were also; courses on how to learn to draw manga, competition/contest and Jump post (readers letters). 
Shonen Jump even got a sister magazine in Norway (the years 2005-2007)

Manga Media had cooperation with Shueisha with Shonen Jump
In the year of 2007 it's said that there were legal issue with Shueisha.
And the Shonen Jump came to the end.
There were 36 th issue, volumes of Shonen Jump

Silver Fang /GNG Note
In the issue, volume 10/ 2007 there were three pages about a contest to win a Silver Fang dvd box.

In 2007 the Silver Fang Ginga Nagareboshi Gin Dvd box were still expensive.
So a contest to win the uncut dvd box were wanted.
The challenge were to draw a Manga dog. In the spirit of Silver Fang, Ginga Nagareboshi Gin


I tried to find out more, but sadly the web site that publish the winners are gone.

Some of mine collection of Manga Mania

Manga Mania were a bit different if you compare to Shojo Stars and Shonen Jump.
There were more focus on Japan, with many articles how to learn Japanese both the language and traditional culture. News about manga and anime and many competition/contest. 
There were also fan draws show in the magazine aswell.

In the magazine there were manga series like;Blade of the Immortal ,Love Hina ,Chobits ,Power !! ,Puppet Revolution , Tokyo by night ,Air Gear ,GTO ,Negima ,School Rumble , Wolf's Rain

Manga Media had cooperation with Kōdansha  with Manga Mania
Manga Mania were the larges manga magazine between the three.
And the magazine issues, volumes gave out more often. First year 4 issues, volumes and then 10 issues, volumes each year.

Manga Mania were born in 2003 and ended in 2007.
Because Manga Mania had unclear audience focus and declining sales the magazine ended .

During the four years Manga Mania had 42 th issue, volumes.

Silver Fang /GNG Note
 During the time Manga Mania were alive, there were publish a article about Silver Fang.
 As you see the article were two pages.

The tale about Silver Fang and the era of 80's & 90's when the anime classics  came. 
But also the article tells about devoted, enthusiastic fans.
You see back in the 2004 there weren't so many sites or information about Ginga Nagareboshi Gin.
A small fan base , but it grow with time.
Here we also get to know a bit about Weed, (from the manga Ginga Densetsu Weed)

The availability of the manga's magazine is difficult to say.
Mostly you can find the manga's on Swedish auctions site or secondhand stores
And the price can be cheap and sometime expensive.

But for a complete set for the three different manga's can be really expensive what I have as experience.
Just the shipping part can be hight prize, just for there are so many issues of each magazine

New dvd release : Silver Fang

Hi, There have been a time since I last post.
I guess sometime you turn really busy and forget things.
But I guess the passion to blog were a bit lost in the spring, so sometime you need to take a break .
Just to find the way one more.

I have now 19 post in draft and I need to finish some soon.
So I have something to do, indeed

But let go to some news

What happened if you mix some edition of the Silver Fangs dvds?
Like the release of 2008 and the release of 2011 ?

Different covers and layout indeed. Both have the dub and the cut version.

I like the purple version,just the color and layout . Or more the different layout and covers.
On the release of 2008  the dog jumping out on the cover seems to lost their tail and it's a bit a mess.
Just if you compare of the quality of the covers.

So today, the big news, that make me so happy is;
I got the newest dvd release

I got a bit surprise  when I found this one in a store.
For me that are a bit nerd and like to collect the different editions release

 

I just  on the new edition , there are some darker purple color , then the early release.
But other then the inside on the new dvd is mostly the same, as the dvd release of 2011

 If we could take away the text on the cover , like ;
" Hela Svenska serien" 
Meaning "The entire Swedish Series"
That will be better, since  there are already that say that this dvd have Swedish dub.
But also the dvd have also Finnish and Hungarian dubs aswell.
But well sometime or often the Swedish release have extra text, that telling this is the dub version 


Right, if you take a look at the cover, you see that  the image of Akakabuto with "jumping flying dogs ", from the uncut Swedish version of 2015

 A other thing I notes were that face that some dog have lost there tails
I know that Kurotora have been missing his tail since the third vhs release (with mean a time back, somewhere in the 90's) . At lest Kurotora got his tail back in, if you look at the back cover on the 2011 release.
But now have Cross lost her tail and please don't get me started on Riki
Or Smith     >_>
Take a look at Akakabuto's claw, frame. It seem like that clip and past , and not work on that one.
It just feel a bit amateur to clip in dogs , bear on the cover and not do a better work.

Gin Badge

Yes I'm alive ^^
But sadly never got the time around to blog
Well a bit until now.

I have seen this Gin badge few time but never got around to be in a bid-war,or hunt for at lest one.
So far I have seen four different badge of Gin.
Like these four;

Just the sleeping Gin is just adorable and so cute.
I really like this one of the four one.
It's to bad  the items seem to be hard to find. And to often (that I have heard & a part seen) becomes expensive.But now days I think many ginga merchandise have more and more expensive.
On the other hand; hard to get or rare merchandise will be wanted and so people seem to be willing to pay the price.

So back to the Gin badges.
I really like the older merchandise, and I hope to there can be some like this four in the future.
Perhaps re- make or something like that.
I love to use a badge with Ginga like those ones.

Update on the Silver Fang DVD

So in short I just added some new information on the new dvd version ;
"Ginga Nagareboshi Gin: Silver Fang  Special Edition "

So Now I have the three different version of Silver Fang, Ginga Nagareboshi Gin boxes

But even so there are some small things that annoy me.
First one is , well
Take a look your self

Can you see anything odd or wrong here ?
Like Gins image and  big paws .. it's just wrong

I miss Gin vs Benizakura image
It' were more powerful image of the series 

True the image with Gin, the Pack running, as this one are lovely

But well, if they needed to do the new version
Why not do some newer box with images from the anime

Plans & update

So here comes a update what I'm have been doing
Number one thing, I have been  inventory of mine collections.
Just that have taken time.
I just added (former dvd bookcase) to the ginga mountain , so I got more room for the collection.
That took a time to add, move the furniture around and round to get it right. 

As people perhaps know now, I'm a cat owner. A bit new as a cat owner
And now I try to adapt so not the cat or the collection get hurt.
So this were a challenge.

But my plan, project are now
I planing to make three parts just on this photo, staring on the left bookshelves , later go to middle and the right . I working on to go deeper on writing and add some closer photos
And after that the bookcase/ cupboard there I have item's, merchandise and so on.

So Orion series , I still got vol 1-11
But now thank to Yukimizake I have now vol 30 (still in plastic cover).
As you can see I have the first vol of Akame series.
The soft toy/plush isn't relate to any ginga series.
I just got in love with this one at a Japanese auction at long time ago.
The other small plush/soft toy is Hachiko. The sweet dog came with the Hachiko manga.
Behind you perhaps can see a phone cover/case with Gloomy Bear

I have also complete manga series of Shiroi Senshi Yamato manga (volume; 1-10), that come out in 2014. The Shueisha Home Remix (The re-remake/reprint of 2004- 2005)

A special manga edition are dear to me.
For outside Japan those manga can be way expensive .
But if you look at second hand site or stores in Japan you can get them for a low prise.
Like 200- 600 yen.
Some see this manga's as some manga GNG edition , but I see them as extra manga more like information, taste of the manga series .
So I say that this is extra manga' s, with the chosen favorite adventure or memorable parts of the series.

There is a small collection of ginga Doujinshi manga that I got over the years.
This is a small photo, I guess I have some more, at lest there or four that I missed when i took the photo. I will update later ^^

A other thing I notes were that Yoshihiro Takahashi drawing style have change.
Well sure that style will change over the time

But I can't help myself to smile on this pictures.
Both Weed and Orion look tooth less , no fangs.

Posters,Covers in Frames

So in the first post on January, I mention that I got two frames to some posters
Se more on my early post ; The start of 2015
I just love them and the posters. I got both frames from work
 
So I found two frames more in a secondhand store and decide to frames some more posters.
I guess my bedroom are more and more a ginga room    >_>
That good and bad I guess. I really need more space, a bigger apartment and some more bookshelf.
But a bit update there is a bookcase coming to me , I hope soon.
So I have more space for the collection. Well for a time at lest

As I said in my early blog post, some time back I got a packet with ginga posters, pages, postcards, adds from different Ginga Nagareboshi Gin, Weed and Orion magazines, manga.
But I haven't touch them until now.
! Please note this !
I haven't cut or ripped the images, pages from the magazine or manga's.

So instead having the images,poster laying around , I started to frame my favorites .I got four now in frame and planing to frame some more later.

So here are two more frames with one poster and a magazine cover of  Kacchû no Senshi Gamu.
I just love the gold fram of GNG kids, puppies .
And I have a soft spot for Gamu , so that weren't hard do pick this on to the frame.

I will have soon two frames for the postcard. 

It's really nice to get some of your favorite image, posters or postcards in a frame and see it on the wall.
In the Ginga room   ;  )

I hope to buy some of those frames, one day

It's nice to finish some projects and show off a bit of the collection.

Update; More mangas ; )

I need to do small update, what I have or got recently.
The most of all I recently got is the Finnish translate manga's of Yoshihiro Takahashi.

Truly I glad and very happy that there goes so well in Finland with the translator and publishing.
Now I just need to learn Finnish and Japanese to really read the manga's :  )  

So now the large collection with the manga's, books with Takahashi work need more room. I have bookshelf but when the collection grown large you need to plan out how to do with the space.
As a bookworm that I'm are, I love bookcases.

 So since November I got some more manga's and await for some more manga, item's to arrive.
The time have changes and some items are more expensive now then before. That way I have taken a bit of break off to collect more ginga items. But also I have become a cat owner.
So I need to balance the money, savings. So you really can take care about your dear pets and yourself. The collecting will not be so important, as before.
As I always say to other collectors.
You need to really think before running in the circle and try to collect ginga items.
Collect for yourself not to impress others.
For if your do this to impress that can be expensive experience. Just some wise words , on your the way of life


Mine collection is very dear to me and I just love books. As the childhood heroes of  Silver Fang/ Ginga Nagareboshi Gin. As well are Yoshihiro Takahashi.

I got the second and third print and I hope to get number one, one day.

I think the color of the manga are strong, a different color and chose I guess.
But it work with yellow

Know as well as : Ginga Densetsu Weed Artbook or Original illustrations collection 
I got two as you see, both with a poster (like the Japanese edition)  

 Fang, vol 1-2
I think Fang is on the third or fourth place of mine favorite of the dog/Canidae story's of Yoshihiro Takahashi.

I were a bit surprise that Fang were being translate, surprise but happy. 

Most of the popular manga's of Takahashi is the Ginga relate.

Ginga Densetsu Akame

I have manga vol 1 and two of the Japanese magazine Weekly Manga Goraku,with the start of the series.
But I have at lest two in store in Japan.
The first part of Akame  and a other with I can't remember the number. But both have Akame on the cover at lest. They will come to me soon

The series is still new and fresh so that make it still a bit hard to say what I think about the series.
But I have always like Iga and Koga/ Kōga story in the Ginga Nagareboshi Gin anime and manga.
So this will be a deeper look on the history with the clans and of course Akame's past.
My favorite have been The Kōga clan and I don't know what I really think of the small spotlight the clan have in Ginga Densetsu Weed series. I think the Kōga clan were stronger in
Ginga Nagareboshi Gin series.
But we will see, Densetsu Akame have just started (more or less).

The Start of 2015

I hope you guys had a great Christmas and a happy new year.
We ( me and mine two cats Mizzy & Ozzy ) had  some weeks vacation and were in my old hometown with family. We had a great vacation and a nice beginning of the new year.

So I have now plan to do some kind of inventory of mine collections.

The cat Mizzy-Dio have stared with the inventory, as you can see   ; )

There is tings,items  that will arrive soon and some items, manga's that have come to me already.
I just haven't had the time to update them , yet.
And I need to do some updater here on the blog and mine collection site.
For I have so many photos, but not that time to uplode them , there are so many of them.
That I need to sort them out aswell.

So many plans and not the time I want  : /

But I stared the year of 2015 with frame two of mine favorite pictures/posters .
I won a auction  some years back with a packet of images,pages, posters from Ginga Nagareboshi Gin magazines. I haven't touch them until now.
NOTE;
I haven't cut or ripped the images, pages from the magazine or manga's.

They were so in the packet on the auction.

 So I got two frames from work, silver white colors and both of the poster suit very well.

At the same time I were more cleaning up the mess with ginga items and I saw a good spot where I could have the VHS & DVD collection. So the sweet Chutora plush is the watchdog (You can read more at my early blog Ginga plushies ).

 The collection of Silver Fang (Ginga Nagareboshi Gin) & Yoshihiro Takahashi collection stared with the old vhs rent tapes. And after that I were addicted and insane collection

So that were a small update and blog from me. I hope to write more soon 
And update more of the collection, that still grows ^^
